Ragnarok #1
I always try to temper my expectations when a legend like Walter Simonson does something new. However, in this case, it wasn’t really necessary. Mr. Simonson ably delivers an old school sword and sorcery tale with lots of Norse mythology mixed in and twisted all around. It feels familiar but different enough to be interesting. It may not be all shiny and new, but it’s always worth watching a master spin a tale with this much skill and craft. Check it out and see that Mr. Simonson has still got it!

Stray Bullets Killers #5
David Lapham continues to “kill” it with the latest relaunch of Stray Bullets. This issue sees the return of Amy Racecar, a favorite of many, but not necessarily mine. Not that I don’t like her, but I think I personally enjoy the more realistic or less sensational stories of the series. That being said, this was an excellent Amy Racecar story with an ending that came out of left field and turned the whole Amy Racecar mythos on its ear. I really can’t say if often enough or loud enough, but READ STRAY BULLETS!!!!

STREET ANGEL SHORT FILM
by Lucas Testro

COMIC-CON

I will have copies of Street Angel at San Diego Comic-Con. I’m in Artist Alley, table II-10. I’ll also have copies of recent zines (including the Street Angel Sketchbook), some prints, and drawings.

Here’s my Comic-Con schedule:

FRIDAY July 25, 2014 12:00pm - 1:00pm

For Love or Money: Creating Personal and Professional Art

If an artist is paid for his or her work, does that mean it’s not personal? The creation of art is such a personal thing, but does it always have to be this way? Hear creatorsRay Billingsley (Curtis), Michael T. Gilbert, (Mr. Monster), David Lasky (The Carter Family: Don’t Forget This Song), Mimi Pond (Over Easy), and Jim Rugg (Supermag) share their views on when or if a project can be for love and money.
Room 28DE

4:00pm - 5:30pm

I’ll be signing at Last Gasp (booth #1614) in support of Henry & Glenn Forever book.

SUNDAY July 27, 2014 11:00am - 12:00pm

Spotlight on Jim Rugg

Comic-Con special guest Jim Rugg (Street Angel, The PLAIN Janes, Afrodisiac, Rambo 3.5, The Guild) discusses his experience as a cartoonist/designer/illustrator/podcaster through a visual presentation and an audience Q&A. Sunday July 27, 2014 11:00am - 12:00pm
Room 4

If you’re not at Comic-Con — get your copy of Street Angel from your local comic shop, buy it on Amazon, tell your local librarian to stock a copy…or if you prefer your comics on a screen — get it from Monkeybrain on Comixology. Thanks.
